About Us
Honoring Our Roots
The story of Faith Temple Ministries is one of vision, faith, and generational impact. What began as a small gathering of believers in 1959 has grown into a vibrant, community-rooted church dedicated to spiritual growth, service, and transformation. Our history is marked by the unwavering leadership of those who have answered God’s call to shepherd His people, and by the enduring presence of a congregation committed to living out the gospel.
As you explore our journey—from humble beginnings to present-day ministry—you’ll see how God’s hand has guided every step, shaping a legacy that continues to inspire and uplift.
Humble Beginnings
Faith Temple Ministries was established in 1959 by the late Bishop Sterling J. Spencer, a visionary leader whose unwavering commitment to faith, family, and community laid the foundation for what would become a lasting legacy of spiritual strength and service. With a heart tuned to God’s voice and a passion for empowering others, Bishop Spencer built more than just a church—he built a refuge where people could find hope, healing, and purpose.
For nearly three decades, Bishop Spencer provided steadfast leadership, guiding the congregation through seasons of growth with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering faith. He fostered a culture of spiritual development, discipleship, and heartfelt worship, all while meeting the practical needs of the people around him. His vision extended beyond the sanctuary walls—he believed the church should be a living, breathing part of the community, offering support to families, outreach to the underserved, and a safe space for all to encounter God. Through his dedication and God-given vision, Faith Temple Ministries became not only a house of worship but a true cornerstone of the community—a legacy that continues to thrive to this day.
Growing in Faith
In 1983, recognizing the need for continued leadership and growth, Bishop Spencer appointed his son, Bishop Jerome Spencer, as his successor. With wisdom, humility, and a heart for the people, Bishop Jerome faithfully carried the vision forward. Under his guidance, Faith Temple Ministries expanded its reach and deepened its commitment to serving both the spiritual and practical needs of its congregation and the surrounding community. A significant pillar alongside him was the late First Lady Vickie Spencer, whose compassion, grace, and unwavering devotion left an indelible mark on the ministry. Her heart for women’s ministry, mentoring, and prayer helped shape the nurturing, family-centered culture that continues to thrive today.
Together, Bishop Jerome and First Lady Vickie Spencer led with integrity, love, and a servant’s heart, reinforcing the foundation laid by the church’s pioneers. Their leadership not only grew the ministry numerically but also spiritually, drawing generations into deeper relationship with Christ.
Moving Forward
In May 2024, a sacred and defining moment in the life of Faith Temple Ministries unfolded as Bishop Spencer, after years of dedicated and spirit-led leadership, humbly passed the mantle to Pastor Timothy Stiggers. This powerful transition was more than a shift in leadership—it was a generational blessing and a divine commissioning to continue building on a strong foundation of faith, love, and service.
Pastor Stiggers steps into this role with a heart for God’s people and a clear vision to see lives transformed through the power of the gospel. His mission is rooted in strengthening families, empowering youth, reaching the lost, and deepening spiritual growth within the church and beyond. With a passion for community engagement, sound teaching, and authentic worship, Pastor Stiggers is leading Faith Temple Ministries into a new season marked by unity, renewal, and forward movement in God’s purpose. We thank God for what has been and rejoice in what is yet to come.
BELIEFS THAT UNITE US
Grounded in Scripture, Guided by Faith, Growing in Unity
2 “With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
– Ephesians 4:2-6
